Project overview

AMZ Installations completed the wood slat ceiling installation for the reception area at Freya Medical in Surrey. The scope included a wood slat ceiling system over the reception, a matching slat finish on the adjacent wall, and the surrounding T-bar drop ceiling. As commercial acoustical ceiling contractors based in Mission, we work across Surrey, the Fraser Valley and the Lower Mainland on interiors where the ceiling is a key part of the design.

The space

The reception is the first space patients see when they arrive at the clinic. It needed to feel warm and welcoming while staying clean and professional, with a clear focal point over the front desk and the Freya Medical sign.

The challenge

The wood slat ceiling had to sit as a defined feature within a standard T-bar ceiling, with clean edges where the two systems meet. The slats also had to run in straight, evenly spaced lines around the linear light lines and turn down onto the wall so ceiling and wall read as one continuous finish.

Our solution: a wood slat ceiling system

We installed a wood slat ceiling system with a dark backing over the reception area, set out so the slats run in consistent, evenly spaced lines. Linear lighting runs through the slats, and a clean perimeter trim frames the feature where it meets the surrounding drop ceiling.

Matching wood slat wall

To carry the design down from the ceiling, we installed the same slat finish on the wall beside the reception window, running horizontally. The result is a single, cohesive feature that frames the front desk.

T-bar drop ceiling

Around the feature, we installed a T-bar drop ceiling, which keeps the rest of the space simple and gives easy access to the services above the ceiling.

The result

Freya Medical now has a warm, modern reception with a wood slat ceiling and wall that give the clinic a clear identity, set within a clean T-bar ceiling.
