In this restaurant in New Westminster, BC, AMZ Installations installed grey felt acoustic baffles under an exposed ceiling. The baffles hang in parallel rows over the open kitchen and service area, bringing noise under control without closing the ceiling.

The space

An open restaurant with an exposed structure, visible ductwork and an open kitchen. Open kitchens add energy, but also clatter and conversation that echo off hard surfaces.

The challenge

The baffles had to hang at a consistent height and spacing, clear ductwork and lighting, and look intentional against the exposed services above.

Our solution: felt baffles in New Westminster

We suspended rows of grey felt baffles from the structure, keeping them parallel and evenly spaced, with linear lighting coordinated between them. The felt adds soft texture overhead and absorbs sound where the noise is generated.

The result

A livelier but more comfortable restaurant: the open, industrial look stays, while noise from the kitchen and dining room is easier to live with.
