Project overview

AMZ Installations installed exterior wood-look slat screens on a commercial building in Surrey, BC. Long horizontal slats fill large openings in the dark cladding, giving the facade warmth, depth and a strong architectural rhythm.

The space

The building sits among new high-rise towers, with a dark panelled facade and large framed openings at the upper level. The slat screens bring a natural tone to an urban streetscape and filter views and light.

The challenge

Exterior slat screens are seen from far away and from street level, so every slat must be straight, level and evenly spaced over long runs. The work was done at height, from lifts, on an active construction site.

Our solution: wood-look slats on a Surrey facade

We installed the horizontal slats on their support framing within each opening, keeping consistent spacing and alignment from one bay to the next. The result reads as one continuous screen across the elevation, with clean edges where the slats meet the dark frame.
